Greetings from our President!
Welcome to the website for Mu Omega Chapter! I am humbled and honored to serve as President of Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®! This historic chapter was chartered on May 10, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, with the purpose to empower, engage and uplift our community. Not only do we have the distinct honor of having one of the Founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® serve as a charter member of this chapter, but we are also the second oldest Graduate chapter in the Mid-Western Region.
Our charge is to Preserve the PEARLS by Purposefully Engaging in the Altruistic Realization of Leadership in Service and Sisterhood. It is the selfless concept of giving your hand to another so that we can continuously cultivate and see growth in the community and within the sisterhood.

Coming up on our centennial celebration in 2024, we continue to serve the Wyandotte County, Kansas community and surrounding areas through efforts aimed to engage and mobilize. We provide annual scholarships to local high school students who plan to pursue secondary higher education; we host the Debutante Ball biennially through a formal presentation of young women that is guided by scholastic achievement and community service; and we are proud of our local and national collaborative partnerships that allow us to extend our reach.
The members of the Mu Omega Chapter operate under the 2022-2026 International Program theme of Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. We execute programs locally, nationally, and internationally through the six (6) initiatives set forth: Strengthen Our Sisterhood, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community.
We are steadfast in upholding these program initiatives so that we ensure that we reach those in our backyard to those across the waters. Please check out our website to learn more about our history and upcoming events!
Yours in Service,
Meredyth A. Vick
